Ok. Where are we at?
Team meeting went really well yesterday. The meeting with our boat captain reminded me how much experience and passion for OW swimming I have with me here. This really is a team sport of the highest order!
Logistics
Firstly, we have pushed the swim date out 24 hours to;
6pm Sunday Hawaii time/ 2pm Monday Sydney/ 3pm Monday Brisbane
The weather has been changing...settling[This is good :-)].
By waiting until Sunday, we are expecting a very calm sea state. The pay-off is that we are expecting significant swells from the North(Breaking where we would start). Significant translated is 12ft! SIGNIFICANT!
So, we will need a new starting point. SO, this means we have a couple of new logistical challenges;
Given that we plan to fly to the Island(Heli), the taxi's on Molokai don't run on Sundays!
We are looking to the Helicopter company to help us get a local to deliver us to the new, sheltered beach
Another option may be to simply take the boat to the swim start. A calmer seastate means a quicker, flatter trip to the Island to the start.
A lot of moving parts. We need this locked down in the next 4 hours. I'm really relaxed. I have basically dozed and watched Netflix all day.
Gravity's(Charlie Evans) cooking has been so so good! We are eating like kings.
I'll keep you all posted. I get the feeling that the AWESOME helicopter company are going to be the glue that brings the plan together.
Love love love the heart and warmth of the Hawaiian people.
Righto. I'll keep you posted.
