It's time.
Combine an Intercontinental relocation(A move to Australia), as well as the added challenge of finding all of my OW swimming gear in amongst all of the boxes in the house! I do love this time though when you really start living and breathing the swim. Starting to wrap myself in cotton wool, avoiding getting sick, injured.
We're 14 days from boarding a flight to Hawaii. What starts to get interesting now is that the hypnotic and time consuming habit of weather app watching has begun! It's pointless. SO SO unnecessarily time consuming, but as addictive as an open packet of Tim Tams! [IYKYK!]. I just can't stop! :-)
This really is what it's all about. The absolute privilege of being 'in it'.
Jacqueline from Infinity Channel Swimming(The company that ran my North Channel and Cook Strait expeditions) has been stoking the fire of anticipation by posting some awesome motivational videos of our Cook Strait swim. Goose bumps!
So, what does this week look like for me?
We still have time for a solid week of training. The last 3 weeks have been 31km, 37km and 40km respectfully. I am targeting a 45km+ week this week. So, consistency is the key. I have been do 2-3 swims a day with the purpose of limiting the load in a single session and mitigating the risk of injury. My shoulders are in good shape right now. The split days' also enables me to sneak in eating well, napping and stretching.
Monday, Tuesday(Today) this week were still swim days but also treated as recovery days. We're now ramping for the next 3 days before a BIG 2-3 days at the end of the week.
We have a cyclone rolling in here,[You can write this shit!] so it's to the pool!
Righto. I'll keep you posted on how the week unfolds on Sunday.
